High-Paying Police Job Opens in Chester County—But Who Will Make the Cut?

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department has opened applications for a full-time police officer position, launching a competitive hiring cycle that offers some of the region’s highest starting salaries and a wide array of specialty career tracks.

The accredited department, which serves roughly 30,000 residents across Westtown and East Goshen Townships, announced that it is accepting resumes through January 30, 2026. The agency patrols approximately 19 square miles just south of West Chester.

Starting pay ranges from $78,222.89 for candidates with less than one year of law enforcement experience to $97,777.36 for those with three or more years. Officers who complete six years with the department can earn up to $130,369.81. The benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, multiple disability insurance plans, paid vacation and sick leave, college incentives, and uniform and equipment allowances.

Officials highlighted additional perks such as gym membership reimbursement, a defined benefit pension plan, and an agency contribution of 1.5% to a 457(b) retirement account.

The department also advertises extensive opportunities for advancement, with potential assignments in criminal investigations, traffic safety, school resource services, drone operations, bicycle patrol, firearms instruction, community services, and the West Chester Regional Emergency Response Team.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, MPOETC Act 120 certified, U.S. citizens, and legally licensed drivers. Candidates must be physically and medically capable of performing essential duties and must hold a high school diploma or GED.

The selection process includes a written exam, physical agility testing, oral interviews, a full background investigation, polygraph, medical and psychological evaluations, drug screening, and a credit check. Resumes must clearly demonstrate compliance with all minimum qualifications.
