WAYNE, PA — Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE: TFX) has introduced two major initiatives during Men’s Health Month to highlight the challenges men face with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and the importance of addressing rectal toxicity risks associated with prostate cancer radiation therapy. These efforts include a national ad campaign featuring the symbolic “Prostate Monster” and a mobile training and education unit called the Prostate Education Express.
The Prostate Monster ad campaign sheds light on how BPH disrupts everyday life, such as causing frequent urination, interrupted sleep, and discomfort during routine tasks. The larger-than-life character serves as a reminder for men to take control of their prostate health by seeking treatment. Running on cable networks, streaming platforms, and digital outlets, the campaign directs viewers to UroLift.com to learn about treatment options.
The UroLift™ System, a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure, has already improved the lives of over 500,000 men worldwide. “So many men suffer silently with symptoms that can seriously affect their quality of life,” said Claus Roehrborn, M.D., professor of urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. “Men need to know they don’t have to ‘just deal with it.’ The UroLift™ System offers rapid symptom relief without the need for ongoing medications.”
Teleflex is also rolling out the Prostate Education Express, a mobile training hub traveling to major U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and Miami. This interactive initiative will provide physicians with hands-on training for the UroLift™ System and the Barrigel™ rectal spacer while engaging the community through health talks and advocacy events. The truck aims to raise awareness about BPH and educate men on protecting their rectal health before undergoing prostate cancer radiation.
The Barrigel™ rectal spacer offers crucial protection against radiation side effects. Studies show 98.5% of patients achieved at least a 25% reduction in rectal radiation exposure, with many reporting an average reduction of 85%. Over 50,000 men have been treated with Barrigel™ to minimize radiation-induced complications.
“June is Men’s Health Month—a time to shine the spotlight on the unique health challenges men face, including BPH, a non-cancerous progressive health concern that commonly occurs as men age,” said Anthony Parrillo, vice president, Global Marketing, Teleflex Interventional Urology. “Our mission is to empower men to prioritize their prostate health and seek out effective, proven solutions like the UroLift™ System and Barrigel™ rectal spacer.”
Through these impactful campaigns, Teleflex continues to address common but often unspoken men’s health challenges, providing solutions that improve treatment outcomes while raising awareness nationwide.
