WAYNE, PA — Cagent Vascular has launched 7.0 mm and 8.0 mm sizes of its Serranator® PTA Serration Balloon Catheter, broadening the device’s use to larger vessels such as the iliac and superficial femoral arteries and to arteriovenous fistulas. The expansion brings the company’s serration technology—balloon angioplasty with embedded elements that create multiple longitudinal lines of interrupted scoring—to more challenging peripheral anatomies, aiming for predictable expansion with less barotrauma and improved luminal gain.
Clinicians say the larger sizes address a practical gap in everyday interventions. “The addition of the 7.0 mm and 8.0 mm Serranator® balloons gives us new options for treating patients with large vessel peripheral artery disease,” said Neil Poulsen, MD, of Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ. “I’ve found serration technology to provide controlled, effective expansion with less vessel trauma and recoil compared to conventional angioplasty. Having these larger sizes available gives us a versatile tool that can be applied in real-world cases where options have historically been limited.”
With these additions, the Serranator® portfolio spans below-the-knee through large proximal arteries and AV fistula applications, positioning the platform as a versatile option within comprehensive peripheral artery disease treatment strategies.
“This milestone reflects our commitment to addressing unmet needs in peripheral vascular care,” said Paul Wilson, Chief Commercial Officer. “Physicians asked us for larger sizes, and we are proud to deliver solutions that continue to support both every day and highly complex interventions.”
The 7.0 mm and 8.0 mm Serranator® balloons are now commercially available in the United States.
