WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Health Department reported multiple food safety violations following inspections conducted Friday at a Parkesburg restaurant and a Berwyn establishment preparing to open.
The department released the findings as part of its routine public inspection reports for licensed food facilities across Chester County.
At Raku Hibachi & Sushi Inc., 348 Commons Road, Parkesburg, inspectors cited issues including a walk-in refrigerator floor in disrepair and rusty shelving that must be repaired or replaced within 14 days.
Inspectors also reported unlabeled squeeze bottles and containers, expired chlorine test strips used to measure sanitizer strength, and several floor areas in need of cleaning, including the sushi bar area, walk-in refrigerator, dry storage and under kitchen equipment.
Other violations included boxed food and containers stored directly on the floor in walk-in units, ready-to-eat foods without required date marking, deeply scored cutting boards and a cooking exhaust hood due for professional cleaning.
Some issues, such as ice scoops stored in ice bins, were corrected during the inspection. Other items were given correction deadlines ranging from immediate compliance to 21 days.
In Berwyn, inspectors conducting an opening inspection at Silk Road Beef Noodles, 254 Swedesford Road, Unit F5, cited violations related to hot water supply and sink installation.
The report stated the facility’s on-demand water heater was not producing sufficient hot water, with temperatures observed around 68 degrees. Regulations require adequate hot water at handwashing and warewashing sinks.
Inspectors also cited the installation of a secondary hand sink in a location not previously approved.
County officials note that inspections represent a snapshot of conditions at the time of review and may not reflect long-term compliance status.
