PHILADELPHIA, PA — The American Red Cross is urging residents to donate blood or platelets as spring travel and seasonal activities threaten to disrupt the blood supply, offering a limited-edition T-shirt to donors who give between Monday, March 30, and Sunday, April 12, the organization announced.
The campaign, launched in partnership with Life is Good, comes as officials warn that maintaining a stable blood inventory requires consistent donations during periods when participation typically declines.
“It’s critical that donors make and keep appointments in the weeks to come to help the blood supply stand up to any seasonal disruptions or challenges,” said Paul Sullivan, senior vice president of donor services for the Red Cross.
All blood types are needed, according to the Red Cross, which supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood.
Appointments can be scheduled at https://www.redcrossblood.org, by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS. Additional details about the promotion are available at https://www.redcrossblood.org/lifeisgood.
