HARRISBURG, PA — A surge of state investment is headed to communities in Chester County, with more than $2.85 million approved to rebuild bridges, repave streets, and modernize water and stormwater systems across the 74th Legislative District.
State Rep. Dan Williams announced the awards, which were approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority and will fund a slate of infrastructure projects officials say are critical to public safety and long-term growth.
The largest allocation, $1.3 million, will go to Caln Township to reconstruct the Caln Meetinghouse Road bridge, a key local connector. The Borough of Parkesburg received $469,004 to repave a section of 5th Avenue, while the City of Coatesville was awarded $386,356 for citywide stormwater inlet replacements aimed at reducing flooding and improving drainage.
Additional funding includes $350,000 for the Honey Brook Borough Authority to upgrade its Well No. 8 treatment plant, $245,750 for Honey Brook Borough to rehabilitate stormwater infrastructure along James Street, and $105,000 for the Caln Township Municipal Authority to advance Phase 2 of the Scott Drive Sewer Extension project.
“These investments will improve local roads, upgrade water and sewer systems, and strengthen stormwater infrastructure,” Williams said, calling the funding a step toward ensuring essential systems keep pace with current demands while preparing communities for future needs.
Local officials said the projects will help prevent costly failures, improve reliability, and support economic development by reinforcing the basic infrastructure that residents and businesses rely on every day.
The grants reflect a broader statewide push to address aging infrastructure through targeted capital investments, particularly in fast-growing communities facing increased pressure on transportation and utility systems.
