Grants

EXTON, PA — Nearly $1.4 million in new state funding is headed to central Chester County to support a slate of transportation, water, and wastewater infrastructure projects aimed at improving public safety and keeping pace with continued growth, state officials announced.

State Rep. Danielle Friel Otten said the funding will help municipalities tackle long-standing infrastructure needs while easing pressure on local taxpayers. The projects span roadway and pedestrian improvements, as well as critical upgrades to water and sewer systems serving growing communities.

The largest transportation award, $532,167 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, was approved for roadway, intersection, and pedestrian infrastructure improvements tied to the proposed Main Line Health Center at Lloyd Avenue and Route 322 in Caln Township. Another $120,569 will support pedestrian safety enhancements at the intersection of Whitford Road and Lori Circle near Lionville Middle School in Uwchlan Township.

Significant investments were also approved for water and wastewater infrastructure through the Small Water and Sewer Program. The Uwchlan Township Municipal Authority received $500,000 for the Eagleview Wastewater Treatment Plant Diversion project, while the Wallace Township Municipal Authority was awarded $275,000 for a sand filter replacement.

The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which administers the Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Small Water and Sewer Program. The programs are designed to help communities modernize infrastructure, improve safety, and plan for long-term development as population and economic activity increase.
