HARRISBURG, PA — A coalition of Republican legislators from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia will convene later this month at the Pennsylvania State Capitol to address mounting concerns over energy costs and power grid reliability across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Set for Tuesday, October 28, the hearing — the first in a planned multi-state series — will focus on how rising energy mandates, infrastructure challenges, and regulatory inconsistencies are driving up prices and threatening reliability for residents and businesses connected to the PJM power network.
Pennsylvania State Rep. David Rowe, who chairs the House Republican Policy Committee, said the bipartisan grid that links the four states faces growing strain from policy decisions that prioritize political agendas over practical outcomes.
“Families and businesses across our region are being crushed by skyrocketing utility bills,” Rowe said, warning that without policy reform, consumers could face rolling blackouts and job losses as industries move elsewhere.
The session, titled “Powering the Mid-Atlantic: Restoring Energy Affordability and Reliability,” will bring together lawmakers and invited experts to explore potential solutions for stabilizing the energy market and protecting ratepayers.
The hearing will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Ryan Office Building Library at the State Capitol Complex in Harrisburg. It will also be streamed live on policycommittee.com and pahousegop.com.
