PAOLI, PA – Fire and emergency medical service providers in parts of Chester County will receive a combined $93,615 in state grant funding to support operations, equipment, and training.
State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester, announced the funding for organizations serving the 157th Legislative District. The money comes from Pennsylvania’s annual Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
The statewide program provides financial assistance to fire companies and EMS agencies. Eligible organizations may use the grants for facility improvements, purchasing new equipment, reducing existing debt, training and education programs, recruiting and retaining volunteers or staff, and constructing new facilities.
Grant Breakdown
The funding was distributed as follows:
- Paoli Fire Company — $30,312
- Berwyn Fire Company & Ambulance — $31,136
- Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company — $32,167
Purpose of the Program
The Fire Company and EMS Grant Program is designed to help departments manage rising operational costs and maintain readiness. Many fire and EMS organizations in Pennsylvania rely heavily on volunteers and local fundraising, making state grants a key source of supplemental funding.
In a statement, Shusterman said the grants reflect continued support for first responders and thanked the Office of the State Fire Commissioner and the Shapiro administration for investing in local emergency services.
