Crash Injures Driver After Following Too Closely in Chester County

EAST MARLBOROUGH TWP, PA — A two-vehicle crash at the entrance to a CVS parking lot left one driver injured Monday evening, Pennsylvania State Police said.

According to Pennsylvania State Police in Avondale, the crash occurred at approximately 6:01 p.m. March 30 on Bayard Road at the intersection with a CVS parking lot entrance in East Marlborough Township, Chester County.

Police reported that a 2023 Audi SUV, identified as Unit 1, was attempting to make a left turn from the CVS parking lot onto northbound Bayard Road when it was struck by a northbound Acura RDX, identified as Unit 2, traveling at approximately 30 mph.

According to investigators, the Acura struck the Audi on its front passenger side. Both vehicles sustained minor damage, police said.

No injuries were reported in that crash, and the operator of Unit 1 was cited for failing to obey duties at a stop sign, according to authorities.

In a separate crash reported by state police, a collision occurred at approximately 2:36 p.m. March 29 on Limestone Road north of East Highland Road in Highland Township, Chester County.

According to investigators, a Hyundai Kona, identified as Unit 1, was traveling southbound behind a Nissan Frontier, identified as Unit 2, when Unit 1 allegedly failed to maintain a safe following distance and struck the rear of Unit 2.

Police said the Hyundai sustained disabling damage and came to rest in the southbound lane, while the Nissan sustained minor damage and came to rest in a nearby private parking lot.

Authorities reported the driver of Unit 1 was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered injuries to both hands before being transported by Keystone Valley EMS to Chester County Hospital. The driver of Unit 2 was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Police said the operator of Unit 1 was cited for following too closely.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
