WARWICK TWP,  PA — A person was injured in a rare coyote encounter in Warwick Township, prompting county health officials to warn residents to avoid contact with wild animals as authorities work to locate the animal.

The Chester County Health Department confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday, December 28, along Warwick Furnace Road. The individual involved sustained injuries and is seeking medical care. Officials said it is not known whether the coyote involved is rabid.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has been notified and is actively involved in efforts to locate the coyote. Health officials emphasized that residents should not attempt to capture, corner, or engage with any coyote, noting that such actions could increase the risk of injury or disease exposure.
