KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A 46-year-old man is charged with home improvement fraud following his arrest on a bench warrant, according to the Kennett Square Police Department.
Police said they were notified that the Coatesville Police Department had David Hilton in custody on February 19. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 6, 2026, authorities stated.
According to police, a bench warrant was issued July 27, 2021, by District Court 15-4-04 under docket number MJ-15404-CR-0000170-2021. The warrant was issued after Hilton allegedly failed to appear for a preliminary hearing related to an earlier investigation, police said.
The underlying case stems from a February 4, 2021 report of multiple alleged thefts from a property in the 100 block of North Willow Street in Kennett Square Borough, according to police. Officers were dispatched after a victim reported hiring a private contractor, identified by police as Hilton, and paying him for services that were allegedly not completed.
Police said the victim further alleged that tools rented for the project were taken and not returned. The incident location is listed as the 100 block of Race Street, according to the report.
Hilton is charged with home improvement fraud in connection with the investigation, police said.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
