WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center celebrated the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Day with its staff and residents dressed in red. The Chester County skilled nursing facility has an established cardiac rehabilitation specialty care program – CardioPro.
Go Red is the start of American Heart Month, the Association’s nationwide February observance that spotlights cardiovascular disease and the need for more lifesavers. The initiative supports increased awareness about cardiac health for women.
Led by leading cardiologist Dr. Amanulla Khaji, West Chester’s cardiac rehab program is designed to assist individuals suffering from challenging or life-threatening heart conditions, including those recovering from a cardiac event or surgical procedure, and those at risk for cardiovascular disease.
Since 2004, the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative has aimed to encourage awareness and address clinical care gaps of cardiovascular disease, the number one killer of women. Heart disease claims the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, and the Go Red movement strives to challenge women to know their risk and take action to lead a heart healthy life.
