Vishay’s New Mexico Plant Secures Key Automotive Certification as Production Scales

Vishay Intertechnology

MALVERN, PAVishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) said its newly opened La Laguna factory in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico has achieved IATF 16949:2016 certification, a critical quality benchmark for supplying components to the global automotive industry.

The facility manufactures power inductors, including products from Vishay’s IHLP line, a flagship family of molded composite inductors used in automotive, industrial and consumer electronics. The certification aligns the plant with the industry’s most stringent quality requirements and further integrates it into Vishay’s global manufacturing network.

IATF 16949 builds on ISO 9001 with requirements tailored to automakers and Tier 1 suppliers. With this approval, the La Laguna plant’s quality management system is fully certified to ISO 9001:2015 for all products and to IATF 16949:2016 specifically for magnetic inductors.

The site also holds ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications for environmental and occupational safety management. In addition, the facility has earned LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, underscoring Vishay’s push toward sustainable construction and resource efficiency.

“This certification emphasizes the Inductor Division’s commitment to the automotive market and providing our customers with a choice of manufacturing locations located in all regions of the globe,” said Mike Husman, senior vice president at Vishay.

The company said the certification supports its strategy to expand capacity for high-reliability components as electrification, advanced driver-assistance systems and power management needs drive demand for next-generation inductors.
