Utah’s Top Workplaces Program Finds New Home in 2026 Amid Major Publishing Shift

EXTON, PAEnergage has partnered with the publisher of the Salt Lake Business Journal to relaunch Utah’s Top Workplaces program in 2026, marking a significant shift for one of the state’s most recognizable employer-recognition initiatives.

For more than a decade, the Utah Top Workplaces awards were published by The Salt Lake Tribune. Beginning with the 2026 cycle, City Journals—the publisher behind the Salt Lake Business Journal and 18 community newspapers statewide—will take over, offering Utah employers a new platform for visibility and recognition. Nominations will remain open through May, with winners announced in fall 2026.

Energage President Dan Kessler said the partnership expands the reach of the program while ensuring the award maintains its credibility. He emphasized the value of spotlighting workplaces “where employees feel truly seen, heard, and valued,” noting that recognition can help companies differentiate themselves in competitive labor markets.

All Utah-based organizations with 35 or more employees—including public, private, nonprofit, and government employers—are eligible to participate at no cost. Winners are selected based solely on employee feedback gathered through Energage’s confidential Workplace Survey, a research-backed tool that measures cultural drivers linked to engagement and organizational performance.

City Journals Publisher Bryan Scott said the collaboration strengthens the region’s business community by highlighting employers that prioritize their people. He noted that the awards offer job seekers meaningful insights into workplace culture while honoring companies that contribute to making Utah “a fantastic place to work and do business.”

In addition to statewide recognition, participating organizations may also qualify for national Top Workplaces distinctions in culture excellence and industry-specific categories, all leveraging the same employee survey.
