WEST CHESTER, PA — Pocopson Home has once again secured its place among the nation’s elite long-term care facilities, earning a coveted spot on Newsweek and Statista’s 2026 list of America’s Best Nursing Homes — a distinction that places the Chester County–run home in the top eight percent of nearly 15,000 nursing facilities nationwide.
The annual ranking evaluates nursing homes across the United States using federal performance data, peer surveys of medical professionals, accreditation status, and resident satisfaction scores. This year’s list reflects expanded national criteria, including the introduction of vaccination rates as a new quality measure.
Chester County officials applauded Pocopson Home’s staff for earning the honor through consistent dedication, professionalism, and compassionate care.
“This national recognition reaffirms what we already know — the team at Pocopson Home provides outstanding care with compassion and commitment every single day,” said Chester County Commissioners’ Chair Josh Maxwell. “There’s no greater measure of success than how well long-term care staff look after their residents.”
Commissioner Marian Moskowitz emphasized the collective effort behind the achievement.
“This honor goes to the maintenance and housekeeping staff, the nurses and aides, and the administrative staff, because each one of them makes the lives of Pocopson Home’s residents better,” Moskowitz said.
Commissioner Eric Roe also credited leadership for guiding the home to national distinction. “Credit for this recognition goes to Pocopson’s Administrator, Jackie McKenna, and her leadership team for their professionalism, kindness, and expert navigation of long-term care policies and practices,” Roe said. “Pocopson Home fosters a culture of excellence and commitment to care that always puts the individual first.”
Pocopson Home offers 24-hour long-term nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, and specialized programs including hospice and respite services. The county-owned facility has long been recognized for its focus on person-centered care and its ability to deliver high-quality services across a wide range of resident needs.
For the 2026 rankings, Newsweek and Statista expanded the number of states reviewed and the total number of facilities recognized. Evaluations incorporated performance data from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), peer recommendations from physicians and nursing home managers, resident satisfaction indicators, accreditation records, and — for the first time — vaccination rates among staff and residents.
Chester County CEO David Byerman said the recognition reflects a broader community effort.
“To again be recognized as one of America’s best nursing homes is a true honor that speaks to the entire Pocopson community — not just the full team, but also the Home’s volunteers and community partners,” Byerman said. “Because of them, Pocopson Home’s residents receive the very best care every day.”
Pocopson Home’s repeated placement among the nation’s top-performing nursing homes underscores its ongoing commitment to quality and its role as one of Chester County’s most vital public health institutions.
