Tacos, Tequila and a Total Reboot: Bomba Unleashes a Bold New Era

MALVERN, PA — A once low-key suburban taco chain is being reborn with firepits, foosball, tequila flights and dancing taco mascots as Bomba ¡Tacos + Tequila! rolls out a dramatic brand overhaul aimed at turning heads — and filling barstools — across Chester and Bucks counties.

Since being acquired in late March 2025 by GuestCounts Hospitality, the Philadelphia-based company behind Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar, Bomba has undergone what executives describe as a top-to-bottom transformation. The former Bomba Tacos + Bar has been rechristened Bomba ¡Tacos + Tequila!, a deliberate shift meant to emphasize tequila, personality and nightlife energy over its previously understated image.

The remodeled brand introduces sweeping changes to food, drinks, décor and guest experience, including new menu categories such as Birria, El Jefe Platos — full dinner entrées — and a rotating monthly “Test Kitchen” featuring experimental dishes.

“Our goal was to turn Bomba into a cheeky, high-energy neighborhood taco and tequila hangout,” the company said in a statement announcing the relaunch.

Open-House Blowouts Planned

The new Bomba will make its public debut with two open-house celebrations featuring free food, tequila tastings and giveaways.

  • Newtown — Saturday, January 24, noon to 4 p.m. (snow date: January 25)
  • Malvern — Sunday, February 15, noon to 4 p.m. (snow date: February 16)

Guests will be offered complimentary samples of Bomba’s new menu items, along with tequila and specialty cocktail tastings from Kevin Hart’s Gran Coramino Tequila for guests 21 and older. Families are welcome, with non-alcoholic drinks and s’mores on the Malvern terrace — complete with spiked hot chocolate for adults.

Attendees will also receive a certificate for a free taco on a future visit and a spin on Bomba’s prize wheel. Those who register in advance and attend will receive a $20 gift voucher with a $50 minimum purchase.

Tequila Takes Center Stage

The reimagined Bomba is placing tequila at the heart of its identity, reflecting its surge in popularity as the fastest-growing spirit category in the United States.

Each restaurant now offers more than 50 premium and super-premium tequilas and mezcals, showcased in the dining room and featured in tequila flights, specialty margaritas, craft cocktails and even a zero-proof tequila cocktail.

A Restaurant Designed to Entertain

The physical spaces have been completely reworked to attract bar crowds and group dining, with expanded private event areas, upgraded sound systems, and walls filled with cheeky taco-and-tequila slogans that rotate digitally throughout the dining rooms.

Interactive angel-wing murals — including one for children — invite guests to take photos and post their “Bomba stories” online.

Bar areas now include foosball, darts, more TVs, and seven-day-a-week happy hours, transforming what was once a quiet taco spot into a social hub.

In Malvern, firepit dining tables have been added to the terrace, creating a warm, communal outdoor dining space even on cool nights. In Newtown, a new side patio overlooks the mini-amphitheater at the Village at Newtown.

Games, Challenges and Trivia Nights

Bomba is also launching a full slate of weekly programming:

  • Sunday Man vs. Tacos — All-you-can-eat tacos for $19
  • Jeopardy! Bar League™ Trivia Nights
    • Malvern — Begins January 15
    • Newtown — Begins January 22

The goal, GuestCounts says, is to make Bomba a destination — not just for tacos, but for entertainment, socializing and late-night energy.

With tequila walls, firepits and dancing taco characters now part of the brand’s DNA, Bomba’s makeover marks one of the most aggressive restaurant rebrands in the suburban Philadelphia dining scene — and a clear bet that fun, flavor and spectacle are the future of casual dining.
