Saxton & Stump Launches Trademark Monitoring Program for Franchise Owners

MALVERN, PA — Law firm Saxton & Stump has launched a trademark monitoring program aimed at helping franchise owners identify potential trademark conflicts and protect brand rights as franchise systems expand, the firm announced.

The program, called the Trademark Monitoring Program for Franchise Owners, is designed to monitor trademark filings across state, federal and international jurisdictions and provide legal analysis to help franchisors address potential conflicts earlier.

Saxton & Stump introduced the offering in connection with its participation in the International Franchise Association’s Annual Convention in Las Vegas.

The firm said the program is intended to help franchise companies detect potentially infringing trademarks before disputes escalate into litigation or disrupt brand expansion.

Amanda D. Dempsey, co-chair of the firm’s Franchising, Licensing and Distribution Group, said trademark risks can increase as franchise systems grow.

“The Trademark Monitoring Program for Franchise Owners gives franchisors a structured way to identify potential trademark conflicts early and address them before they disrupt growth or diminish brand value,” Dempsey said.

The service combines work from the firm’s franchising and intellectual property practice groups and provides ongoing monitoring of trademark filings with legal guidance on potential enforcement actions.

Andrew L. Oltmans, chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, said early detection can reduce costs and legal complications.

“This program helps franchisors identify potential conflicts earlier, when issues can still be addressed efficiently and at lower cost,” Oltmans said.

Saxton & Stump said the program will be offered through multiple service tiers with options for regional, national or international monitoring.

The firm said the service is intended for franchise systems at different stages of expansion and is designed to provide ongoing monitoring of trademark activity and guidance on protecting brand rights.
