EXTON, PA — Hankin Group has begun construction on a seventh apartment building at its Keva Flats community in Exton, a project that will add 72 units and is expected to be completed by spring 2027, the company announced.
The five-story building will expand the 19-acre development from 266 units to 388 units upon completion, marking the final phase of the project’s second development stage.
The new building will include a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments ranging from 795 to 1,570 square feet. Units will feature standard amenities such as central air, in-unit washers and dryers, and modern kitchen fixtures, along with shared features including garage parking, electric vehicle charging stations, and bicycle storage.
The project is being designed to meet LEED Gold certification standards, a designation from the U.S. Green Building Council for energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable construction. If achieved, the building would become the 51st LEED-certified property in the company’s portfolio.
“Keva Flats was designed to balance contemporary living, sustainability, and community-oriented design,” said Bob Hankin, president and CEO of Hankin Group, citing continued demand for housing in the Exton area.
Residents of the new building will have access to existing community amenities, including a clubhouse, fitness center, pool, and outdoor recreation areas, as well as shared workspaces and meeting rooms.
The Keva Flats development is integrated with the Chester Valley Trail and is located near Main Street at Exton, downtown West Chester, and SEPTA’s Exton Station, providing access to regional transportation and commercial areas.
The expansion concludes Phase II of the project, which included floodplain restoration work and the addition of 96 units across two buildings. One of those buildings, containing 24 units, opened in September 2025.
Michael Hankin, president of Hankin Apartments and chief operating officer of Hankin Group, said the new units are expected to meet demand from both local residents and commuters.
Keva Flats has received recognition for sustainability and design, including the PECO Green Award and honors from the Pennsylvania Apartment Association, International Interior Design Association, Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Journal, and National Apartment Association.
