WAYNE, PA — Trinseo (NYSE: TSE) has released its FY 2024 Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Report, titled Tides of Change, highlighting significant progress toward its 2030 sustainability goals and broader efforts to transition toward a circular economy.
Among the key achievements in 2024, the company reported a 31% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, a 4% increase in electricity sourced from renewables, and a 5% decrease in total water consumption compared to 2023. These gains underscore Trinseo’s commitment to responsible operations and climate action as part of its long-term sustainability roadmap.
“At Trinseo, our mission remains steadfast: to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that create value for our customers and support the transition toward a more circular future,” said Frank Bozich, President and Chief Executive Officer of Trinseo. “I’m optimistic that we are well-positioned to chart a course toward a stronger future.”
In 2024, Trinseo achieved five of its 17 targeted 2030 goals across areas such as supplier responsibility and climate initiatives. The company also expanded its focus on supplier due diligence, Scope 3 emissions management, and on-site renewable energy sourcing as it works to advance remaining objectives.
A major highlight of the year was Trinseo’s investment in advanced recycling technologies. The company launched its first chemical recycling demonstration facility for acrylic solutions in Rho, Italy, and followed with an ABS dissolution pilot facility in Terneuzen, the Netherlands. These facilities complement Trinseo’s existing mechanical recycling and polymer dissolution technologies, further supporting the development of high-quality, recycled feedstocks essential for a circular plastics economy.
“Our collective efforts place sustainability at the heart of our innovation, operations, partnerships and business model,” said Han Hendriks, Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer. “Guided by our 2030 Sustainability Goals and Core Values, we are innovating not only our products but also our approach to materials solutions.”
Additional highlights from the report include enhanced supplier responsibility standards, the completion and third-party assurance of Scope 3 emissions data, and the surpassing of Trinseo’s R&D targets — with 78% of technology and innovation efforts now dedicated to circular solutions. Notably, new material developments like recycled polymethyl methacrylate and polycarbonate resins are key pillars in the company’s circular transition strategy.
The FY 2024 report was prepared using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2021 Universal Standards and incorporates the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) framework. It is accompanied by a Core Impact Report to provide stakeholders with a comprehensive view of Trinseo’s environmental and social value creation.
Through these strides, Trinseo continues to signal its commitment to leading the industry toward a lower-carbon, more sustainable future, reinforcing its position as a proactive force in advancing circular economy principles.
