VALLEY FORGE, PAPJM Interconnection announced the election of Robert Ethier and Le Xie to its Board of Managers, each beginning a three-year term effective immediately.

The appointments follow PJM’s Federal Energy Regulatory Commission-approved election process, managed by an eight-person Nominating Committee representing the five member sectors and three Board members. Ethier and Xie join Matthew “Matt” Nelson, who was elected to the Board in May.

Ethier brings more than three decades of leadership in electricity markets and system planning, including senior roles at ISO New England in market development, operations, and system planning. He currently advises organizations on planning and market design issues as principal at Stickney Brook Consulting.

Xie, the Gordon McKay Professor of Electrical Engineering at Harvard University, is known for his research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and power systems. A Fellow of the IEEE and a recipient of multiple academic and professional awards, he has worked extensively on grid operations, electricity markets, and sustainable energy planning.

“Bob and Le were nominated from a robust pool of candidates based on their deep expertise and experience in the electricity sector and all of its facets,” said Board Chair David Mills. “I welcome them and am confident in their ability to help guide the organization through a very dynamic time.”

PJM Interconnection coordinates wholesale electricity in 13 states and the District of Columbia, serving more than 65 million people.
