BERWYN, PA — AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE: AME) announced the acquisition last week of LKC Technologies, a provider of portable diagnostic technologies used in the detection and management of ophthalmic conditions.
LKC Technologies develops devices that enable physicians to test and monitor eye health, with a focus on identifying early indicators of diabetic retinopathy and other serious conditions that can lead to vision loss. The company is headquartered in Germantown, Maryland.
“We are excited to welcome LKC Technologies to AMETEK,” said David A. Zapico, chairman and chief executive officer of AMETEK. “LKC Technologies is an excellent strategic fit with our Ultra Precision Technologies Reichert business, providing attractive market expansion opportunities and creating a broader ophthalmic product portfolio.”
Zapico said the acquisition is expected to strengthen AMETEK’s capabilities in eye-care diagnostics by combining engineering and design expertise across the two organizations.
“We look forward to leveraging our respective design and engineering capabilities to further advance patient eye healthcare together,” he said.
LKC Technologies will operate within AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group, which designs and manufactures analytical, test, and measurement instrumentation serving aerospace, medical, power, energy, research, and industrial markets worldwide.
