Longwood Gardens Strengthens Leadership With New Board Appointments

KENNETT SQUARE, PALongwood Gardens has announced significant leadership changes with the appointment of two new trustees—Logan S. Herring, Sr., and Maria Alvarez Mann—and the election of Ann C. Rose as Chair of the Board of Trustees. Rose succeeds Jane G. Pepper, who concluded a decade of distinguished service as chair and will continue as a member of the board.

The appointments reflect Longwood Gardens’ ongoing commitment to strategic governance and community impact as it continues its mission to inspire through horticulture, conservation, and education.

New Trustees Bring Diverse Expertise
Logan S. Herring, Sr., CEO of The WRK Group—which includes The Warehouse, REACH Riverside, and Kingswood Community Center—has been a key figure in revitalizing Wilmington, Delaware’s Riverside neighborhood. Under his leadership, the organization employs more than 80 staff members and invests over $15 million annually in initiatives supporting housing, education, and economic mobility.

Maria Alvarez Mann, a global technology executive and founder of a management consulting practice, has held senior roles with JPMorgan Chase, USAA, and DST/SS&C. Her work focuses on IT strategy, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. Mann is also an advocate for diversity in the technology sector and serves as a board director for Abyro Capital.

A Legacy of Stewardship
Ann Rose, a longtime member of Longwood’s Board since 2001, also serves in leadership roles with the Hagley Museum and Library, Mt. Cuba Center, and Brown Advisory Trust Company of Delaware. She succeeds Jane G. Pepper, who joined the board in 2005 and guided Longwood through a decade of growth as chair.

With these appointments, Longwood Gardens reinforces its legacy of stewardship and community partnership while preparing for the next chapter in its evolution as one of the nation’s premier cultural and horticultural institutions.
