Longwood Gardens’ Bold New Era: Why a Veteran Park Visionary Is Taking the Helm

KENNETT SQUARE, PALongwood Gardens has named Andres Ambriz as its new Chief Horticulture & Facilities Officer, tapping a seasoned operations leader with decades of experience guiding major cultural and entertainment institutions. Ambriz succeeds longtime leader Sharon Loving, who is retiring after 43 years with the organization.

Ambriz will oversee more than 200 employees and direct strategy across horticulture, facilities, capital projects, land management, sustainability, and long-term planning. His appointment comes as Longwood prepares for future phases of its expansive site master plan following the completion of Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience and the ongoing development of Longwood at Granogue, its 505-acre cultural landscape in Wilmington, Delaware.

Ambriz brings more than 25 years of experience to the role. Most recently, he served as Chief Infrastructure Officer at Space Center Houston, where he led capital planning, facilities maintenance, event operations, security, safety, and long-term strategic development. Before that, he spent 24 years with United Parks and Resorts, formerly SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, rising to Vice President of Global Operations. From 2016 to 2022, he spearheaded global theme park development projects, including the launch of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi in 2023.

Longwood President and CEO Paul B. Redman said Ambriz offers a blend of strategic insight and operational depth that will support the garden’s evolution. “His experience will be instrumental as Longwood continues to innovate and advance our mission,” Redman said.
