MALVERN, PA — The Insurance Information Institute has launched an awareness campaign in Missouri aimed at highlighting the economic impact of litigation practices on consumers and insurance costs.
The campaign includes billboards in Jefferson City near the State Capitol, as well as digital advertising on bus stops and other public displays, targeting both residents and policymakers.
The effort also includes targeted social media ads in St. Louis, which ranks sixth on the American Tort Reform Foundation’s Judicial Hellholes list, a designation used to identify jurisdictions with high levels of litigation.
The campaign focuses on how legal system practices can affect insurance pricing, including auto, home, and business coverage, and broader costs for consumers.
“As we continue to be inundated across the U.S. by the likes of billboard attorneys preying on vulnerable Americans and increasing insurance costs for everyone, now is the time for further action from Missouri lawmakers,” said Sean Kevelighan, chief executive officer of the Insurance Information Institute.
The organization said similar legal reforms in states such as Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana have led to changes in insurance markets, including pricing and competition.
The Insurance Information Institute, an affiliate of The Institutes, provides research and data on risk and insurance and represents companies accounting for a significant share of U.S. property and casualty insurance premiums.
