Georgia Tort Reform Push Sparks Award-Winning Campaign With Big Legislative Payoff

MALVERN, PA — A sweeping public-awareness effort by the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) to spotlight legal system abuse in Georgia has earned top recognition from two major communications awards programs, following a campaign that helped propel a landmark tort reform package into law.

Triple-I’s 2025 initiative—which targeted lawmakers, constituents, and the broader public—was honored with Gold Awards from the MarCom Awards in both the Advertising Campaign and Display Ad Campaign categories. The Ragan Communications Zenith Awards also named the effort a finalist for Campaign of the Year.

The campaign focused on raising awareness about how legal system abuse contributes to higher insurance and consumer costs, an issue that has long concerned the industry. Triple-I deployed a multi-channel strategy to build momentum behind Gov. Brian Kemp’s comprehensive tort reform plan.

Key elements included billboards across downtown Atlanta and the state Capitol area, a Facebook petition campaign urging constituents to contact legislators, and direct outreach to lawmakers through media advisories and issue briefs. Triple-I also launched national email updates, produced a detailed infographic, and secured coverage through earned media interviews featuring CEO Sean Kevelighan.

The results delivered both political and public impact. The campaign generated nearly 986,000 Facebook impressions and a 15% click-through rate—far exceeding typical performance benchmarks—and drove more than 20,000 clicks. Digital letter-writing tools recruited 202 new advocates who sent 443 messages to state lawmakers.

Triple-I said the surge of constituent engagement helped advance Kemp’s tort reform bill through both chambers of the General Assembly, leading to its eventual signing into law. Kevelighan later published an op-ed in several Georgia outlets highlighting how the reforms could help stabilize the state’s insurance market.

The awards cap a year of heightened advocacy for Triple-I, which said the recognition reflects the effectiveness of its strategy and its expanding influence in policy debates surrounding legal system abuse.
