WEST BRANDYWINE, PAFreedom Village at Brandywine has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting its team members by awarding scholarships to 24 employees through a resident-led initiative.

The Freedom Village Brandywine Scholarship Fund, now in its 19th year, is entirely funded by donations from residents of the community. A volunteer Board of Directors oversees all aspects of the program, from fundraising to selecting recipients. Since its creation, the fund has awarded 205 scholarships.

“This is more than financial aid – it’s life-changing support,” said Gail Woods, resident and president of the Board of Directors for the Scholarship Committee. She highlighted how the scholarships provide opportunities to employees who may not otherwise have access to higher education.

This year’s scholarship recipients are pursuing a range of academic and vocational goals, from two- and four-year degrees to trade school certifications. Scholarships can be renewed annually until the completion of undergraduate studies. Applicants are selected based on academic achievements, personal essays, and recommendation letters, including one from a Freedom Village supervisor.

The fund relies on contributions from residents, along with honorary gifts and bequests, to continue its mission of making education attainable for deserving team members.

Freedom Village’s dedication to uplifting its employees through education reflects its enduring commitment to community and well-being.
