EXTON, PA — Citadel Credit Union has announced plans to open its first Philadelphia branch in Overbrook Park, marking a significant step in its long-term commitment to community-centered banking and the city’s economic growth. The new branch, located at 7557-61 Haverford Avenue, is set to open in early 2026.
The 2,880-square-foot branch will serve as a full-service financial center offering personal and business banking, mortgage lending services, and financial counseling. It will also act as a hub for community engagement, featuring a dedicated room available at no cost to local nonprofits and neighborhood groups for meetings, workshops, and events. The branch, which will be one of Citadel’s largest, is part of a broader effort to foster financial literacy and economic equity across Philadelphia.
“We’re not just opening doors to a new branch; we’re opening doors to opportunity,” said Bill Brown, CEO of Citadel Credit Union. “This space is designed for people, not just transactions. Whether someone is starting a business, buying a home, or just looking to learn more about money, we want to support them in their journey.”
Philadelphia City Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. hailed the development as a thoughtful addition to Overbrook Park, a vibrant neighborhood with a strong sense of community.
“I welcome Citadel Credit Union to our community and commend their commitment to delivering services and investments where they’re most needed,” Jones said. “This new branch, and especially the community space, reflects a thoughtful approach to neighborhood engagement and financial empowerment. I look forward to seeing Citadel become not just a service provider, but a good neighbor.”
Strengthening Philadelphia Communities
Citadel Credit Union’s investment in Philadelphia extends far beyond its physical presence. The organization is already partnering with local nonprofits to support affordable housing, small business development, and financial education initiatives.
Upcoming programs include financial literacy workshops with organizations like Women’s Opportunities Resource Center (WORC) and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The credit union has also committed funds to housing initiatives, such as a $7,500 donation to the Affordable Housing Centers and collaborative planning efforts with the Urban League of Philadelphia and other housing organizations.
Through philanthropic contributions—including over $2.1 million raised as the Presenting Sponsor of CHOP’s Parkway Run & Walk since 2019 and a $100,000 four-year commitment to Rebuilding Together Philadelphia—Citadel is making a measurable impact on underserved communities.
“Rebuilding Together is proud to welcome Michael Desimone to our board, and we’re grateful to Citadel for its investment in our mission,” said Stefanie Seldin, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together Philadelphia. “This partnership will help us reach more families and preserve more homes in neighborhoods that need support the most.”
A Community-Driven Approach
At the core of Citadel’s new branch is a focus on community. Chairwoman Claudia Hellebush underscored the importance of the Overbrook Park location as a space for more than just financial transactions.
“This space is a physical promise that we’re here to serve the community, not just as a financial institution, but as a partner,” Hellebush said. “It’s a place where people can come to learn, grow, and access the tools they need to achieve financial strength, and we’re committed to growing alongside the communities we serve.”
The Overbrook Park branch is the first of several planned locations in the city, each reflecting Citadel’s broader mission to support economic equity and empowerment across Philadelphia. By combining inclusive services and community partnerships, Citadel Credit Union is aiming to set a new standard for community-focused banking.
