WAYNE, PA — Sam Brown Healthcare Communications, a Blue Matter Company, has appointed Michael Heinley as its new Managing Director of Client Development and Engagement. The strategic hire underscores the firm’s commitment to expanding its global presence and enhancing its integrated communications offerings across the life sciences sector.
Heinley brings a wealth of experience from both corporate and agency environments, having held senior communications roles at major industry players including Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co., WebMD, and most recently, as a senior partner at Finn Partners’ Global Health Practice. In that role, he led engagement efforts for a wide range of clients, including pharmaceutical, biotech, health tech, and med tech companies, as well as health systems and advocacy groups.
At Sam Brown, Heinley will report directly to company founder and president Laura Liotta. His mandate includes strengthening client relationships, identifying new growth opportunities, and helping position the agency for continued leadership in healthcare communications.
“In today’s fast-moving and complex healthcare environment, Michael has a distinct perspective,” said Liotta. “He’ll play a vital role in helping our clients adapt, innovate, and lead, while expanding Sam Brown’s capabilities and global reach.”
Over the course of his career, Heinley has led communications for high-profile pharmaceutical product launches, corporate reputation management, R&D and financial communications, and executive visibility efforts. He is known for advising CEOs and C-suite executives through transformational periods, crisis situations, and market shifts.
His industry contributions have been widely recognized. Heinley was named one of the most influential leaders in healthcare communications and was honored as Mentor of the Year by PM360. He currently serves on the board of Donate Life New York State, supporting efforts to increase organ and tissue donation.
“I’m thrilled to join the talented team at Sam Brown,” Heinley said. “I’ve long admired the company’s culture of strategic excellence and enduring client partnerships. I look forward to building on that foundation and helping drive the agency’s next chapter of growth.”
The addition of Heinley comes as Sam Brown continues to scale its business globally, offering a full suite of integrated communications services to pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare clients navigating increasingly competitive and regulated markets.
