VALLEY FORGE, PA — PJM Interconnection has appointed Deena O’Brien as senior director of corporate communications, entrusting her with oversight of external and internal communications, creative services, the organization’s online presence, and the execution of conferences and meetings.
“Deena brings deep experience in the energy, technology and regulatory sectors with a proven record of communicating effectively with stakeholders and the public,” said Nora Swimm, Senior Vice President of Corporate Client Services. “PJM, its Members and the entire stakeholder community will be well served by her experience in implementing communication strategies for Fortune 100 companies.”
O’Brien joins PJM with a wealth of experience gained across prominent companies in the energy and corporate sectors. Most recently, she served as director of corporate communications at Johnson & Johnson, where she managed high-stakes communication and advocacy initiatives, skillfully navigating regulatory challenges while building the company’s reputation.
Earlier in her career, O’Brien was the director of corporate communications at W.L. Gore & Associates. During her tenure there, she specialized in external communications, engaging stakeholders on regulatory matters, and fostering connections with both consumers and government officials. Additionally, she spent several years handling corporate communications for Exelon, providing support for critical operations, including the Conowingo Hydroelectric and Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Stations.
O’Brien holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations from Capella University.
Her appointment reflects PJM’s commitment to enhancing its communication capabilities and strengthening its engagement with key stakeholders as the organization continues to lead in delivering reliable, sustainable energy solutions across the region.
