Envestnet Appoints Rich Friedberg as Chief Information Security Officer

BERWYN, PA — Envestnet (NYSE: ENV) has appointed Rich Friedberg as chief information security officer to lead the company’s enterprise information security strategy and cyber risk management efforts, the company announced.

Friedberg will report to Chief Technology Officer Bhaskar Peddhapati and oversee information security strategy, governance integration, operational resilience and security operations across Envestnet’s $7.4 trillion platform.

“Trust is the foundation of wealth management, and security is foundational to trust,” said Chris Todd, chief executive officer of Envestnet. He said Friedberg brings experience aligning cybersecurity with enterprise risk, regulatory expectations and board-level governance.

Friedberg joins Envestnet with more than 25 years of cybersecurity leadership experience across financial services, software and national security sectors.

Most recently, he served as chief information security officer at Live Oak Bank, where he led cybersecurity integration across governance, strategic planning and digital product development. He previously held senior security leadership roles at Blackbaud and Capital One, including serving as vice president of information security and CISO for Capital One’s card business.

Earlier in his career, Friedberg spent more than six years at the CERT Program at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute, serving as deputy director of the CERT Coordination Center and supporting U.S. government agencies on cybersecurity research, incident response and threat intelligence initiatives.

He has also served as adjunct faculty in Carnegie Mellon University’s Executive Education CISO Certificate Program at Heinz College and maintains an NACD Directorship Certification. Friedberg serves on the American Bankers Association’s Cybersecurity and Operational Resilience Advisory Committee.

Friedberg holds a Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in information and decision sciences from Carnegie Mellon University.
