EXTON, PA — Citadel Credit Union has once again been recognized as a Great Place to Work®, marking its seventh consecutive certification and reaffirming the organization’s dedication to cultivating a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
The recognition comes as President and CEO Bill Brown celebrates his second anniversary leading Citadel. Since taking the helm, Brown has emphasized employee engagement and development as key pillars of Citadel’s growth strategy. “This recognition reflects the heart of who we are,” Brown said. “Our employees bring passion and care to everything they do — for our members, our communities, and for one another. My focus is ensuring Citadel remains a place where every employee feels valued, supported, and proud to belong.”
A Culture Built on Collaboration and Care
Results from the 2025 Great Place to Work survey highlighted camaraderie, inclusion, and trust as defining strengths of Citadel’s workplace. Employees cited teamwork and mutual respect as the organization’s top attributes, while also giving high marks for physical safety, fairness, and leadership accessibility.
Melanie Culbertson, Vice President of Human Resources, said Citadel’s culture continues to evolve as the organization grows. “Our team’s feedback shows that employees see Citadel as more than a workplace — it’s a community built on collaboration and care,” she said. “As Citadel continues to grow, our culture grows stronger, guided by our shared purpose and people-first values.”
Employee Experience and Community Commitment
Citadel supports its workforce through a range of initiatives promoting well-being, career growth, and community engagement. These include enhanced leave policies, comprehensive wellness programs, and recognition platforms such as the Applause and Member Excellence Award. Through its Citadel Cares program, employees contribute to local causes focused on financial literacy, education, community and economic development, and health and wellness.
This focus on both employee and community impact has translated into measurable success. Citadel reported an 89% employee satisfaction rate — far above the national benchmark of 57% — underscoring its continued investment in people and purpose.
As Citadel strengthens its position as one of Pennsylvania’s leading credit unions, the repeat certification reflects more than workplace satisfaction; it signifies a sustained commitment to creating an environment where employees can thrive and, in turn, help members and communities build lasting financial strength.
