Chester County United Way to Host Social Impact Pitch Competition for Local Nonprofits

LionCage Pitch Competition

EXTON, PA — Chester County United Way will host the Social Impact category of the “Road to LionCage 2025” Pitch Competition series on Tuesday, July 23, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at its Exton headquarters. The event invites local nonprofits, community changemakers, and mission-driven organizations to present bold ideas that reimagine how they serve their communities.

Presented by i2n (an initiative of the Chester County Economic Development Council), Penn State Great Valley LaunchBox, and Penn State Brandywine LaunchBox, the Social Impact pitch competition offers a unique opportunity for nonprofits to showcase pilot projects, experimental programs, or creative ways to expand their mission.

Selected participants will give a 10-minute presentation outlining their work, why it matters, and what they hope to do next. A panel of local community leaders will evaluate each pitch based on clarity, potential, and impact. The top presenter will receive a $500 prize, with $250 awarded for second place. The winner will also secure an automatic spot in the main LionCage event in November, where finalists compete for $5,000 to $10,000 in funding.

“This event is designed to lift up fresh thinking in the nonprofit sector,” said Kelly Cockshaw, Director of Leadership & Innovation at Chester County United Way. “It’s a supportive space where organizations can test new ideas, strengthen their message, and connect with people who want to help them grow.”

In addition to presenting, nonprofits are encouraged to attend as audience members to support their peers, gain insight into innovative approaches, and make meaningful connections across the local nonprofit ecosystem.
