EXTON, PA — Bentley Systems, Incorporated (NASDAQ: BSY) has announced the finalists for its 2025 Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure, recognizing groundbreaking advancements in engineering and project delivery across 12 categories. The awards highlight how project teams and owner-operators around the globe are leveraging digital technologies—including artificial intelligence and digital twins—to improve infrastructure resilience, efficiency, and quality of life.
This year’s finalists were selected from nearly 250 nominations spanning 47 countries. Independent panels of industry experts evaluated the entries, which represent projects that tackle some of the world’s most pressing infrastructure challenges—from climate change adaptation to complex energy transitions.
“We are inspired by the ways infrastructure professionals continue to deliver better, more resilient infrastructure, despite so many global challenges,” said Chris Bradshaw, Bentley’s chief sustainability and education officer. “This year’s finalists demonstrate the tangible impact advances in AI, digital twins, and more are having in driving greater productivity and resilience across the infrastructure lifecycle.”
Finalists will present their projects at Bentley’s Year in Infrastructure Conference in Amsterdam, where winners will be announced on October 16.
Global Innovation Across Categories
The finalists reflect a wide range of infrastructure domains, including transportation, energy, water, and urban development. Notable projects include:
- Bridges and Tunnels: Pennoni’s I-95 Penn’s Landing CAP Project in the U.S. and Italferr’s digitized infrastructure management in Italy.
- Cities, Campuses, and Facilities: Smart planning initiatives in Brazil, China, and India aimed at sustainable urban development.
- Energy Production: Baosteel’s intelligent steel plant construction in China and Indonesia’s waste-to-energy RDF facility.
- Geospatial and Reality Modeling: Projects in Saudi Arabia and the UK showcasing 3D modeling and asset condition surveys.
- Rail and Transit: Digital upgrades to the UK’s Severn Tunnel and Indonesia’s LRT Jakarta transformation.
Among the high-profile finalists is Network Rail (UK) for its digital transformation of the Severn Tunnel and Deloitte and Vale (Brazil) for implementing 4D construction technologies in the world’s first iron ore briquetting plant. Also notable is Harmony Biosciences’ project in Colombia, using simulation tools to optimize Medellín’s water infrastructure.
Advancing Resilience Through Digital Technology
The Going Digital Awards underscore the growing adoption of digital solutions such as AI, BIM, GIS, and digital twin technologies across the infrastructure lifecycle. These tools are increasingly essential for meeting environmental, economic, and social demands amid tight labor markets and rising project complexity.
Bentley Systems continues to position itself as a key enabler in this shift, offering software platforms that support planning, design, construction, and operations. Its global reach and focus on digital transformation are helping project teams deliver infrastructure that is more sustainable, cost-effective, and future-ready.
Looking Ahead
As infrastructure challenges become more interconnected and demanding, the innovations showcased by the 2025 Going Digital Awards finalists offer a glimpse into the future of infrastructure delivery. By blending engineering excellence with digital acumen, these projects demonstrate how technology is reshaping the built environment on a global scale.
Winners will be revealed in October during Bentley’s annual conference, which brings together industry leaders to share insights on the technologies shaping tomorrow’s infrastructure.
