WEST CHESTER, PA — A downtown West Chester landmark just earned a major industry accolade, as GGA Construction received the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Delaware Excellence in Construction Award for its work on Hotel Indigo — a six-story boutique hotel that now anchors the heart of West Chester’s urban core.
The competitive awards program honors the most innovative and high-quality construction projects completed by ABC Delaware members, with judges evaluating craftsmanship, project complexity, safety performance, and the ability to maintain budget and schedule. GGA Construction’s work on Hotel Indigo rose to the top for its exceptional handling of a dense urban site and its seamless coordination across contractors and trades.
The project required intricate planning to deliver a six-story structure within the tight footprint of downtown West Chester — a challenge that GGA navigated through detailed scheduling and execution, earning praise for its safety record and the caliber of its final build.
Hotel Indigo, now fully open, features 108 guest rooms designed to reflect the character and historic charm of West Chester, blending modern amenities with locally inspired décor. Its public spaces include a 3,000-square-foot lobby, a 100-person business center for meetings and events, a fitness center, and pet-friendly accommodations.
Dining and nightlife have quickly become part of the hotel’s identity. The West Chester Seafood Kitchen serves as its signature restaurant, while Room 109, an intimate speakeasy lounge, is currently transformed into The North Pole Social — a festive holiday pop-up experience drawing seasonal crowds.
The recognition for Hotel Indigo comes as part of a strong year for GGA Construction, which also earned an Excellence in Construction Award for The Waypoint Hotel in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The company, founded in 2006 and headquartered in Middletown with an additional office in Rehoboth Beach, has built a reputation for high-quality commercial and hospitality projects across the region.
GGA officials said the award reflects both the complexity and the craftsmanship behind one of West Chester’s newest architectural additions — a project that marries local character with modern design in the center of a bustling downtown district.
