MALVERN, PA — The Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation has appointed Sean Kent as its new president and board member, positioning the longtime construction executive and U.S. Navy veteran to lead the organization’s efforts to support military families and student scholars across the country.
Kent currently serves as senior vice president of construction and renovation for Balfour Beatty Communities, overseeing nationwide teams responsible for housing development and improvement projects. His transition into the foundation role reflects the company’s continued focus on strengthening the communities it serves, particularly those with ties to military service.
In a statement, Kent said he is honored to take on the leadership position, noting that supporting military families and helping students pursue their academic goals remain central to the foundation’s mission. He emphasized Balfour Beatty’s “We Care” principles—putting people first, acting with integrity and striving for excellence—as guiding values for the foundation’s work.
Established in 2007, the Balfour Beatty Communities Foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to developing future leaders. Its scholarship program has awarded nearly $2 million to more than 650 students living in Balfour Beatty communities, helping expand access to higher education for those who need it most.
The foundation said Kent’s experience, both in uniform and in the housing sector, will support efforts to deepen its reach and broaden its impact as it continues to champion educational opportunities and community-focused initiatives.
