Conducted by Gunther Volkswagen Delray Beach, the poll asked 3,021 respondents where they prefer to go for their “fall fix,” uncovering a clear preference for authentic, local experiences over national chains.
At the top of the list is Solebury Orchards in New Hope, a Bucks County favorite that epitomizes autumn in Pennsylvania. Visitors are drawn by its scenic rows of apple trees, the scent of fresh hay, and the unhurried pace of families filling baskets and sipping cider. For many, Solebury represents more than a day trip — it’s a seasonal tradition.
In second place, La Colombe Coffee Workshop in Philadelphia blends the city’s modern energy with the slower rhythm of fall. Known for its signature roasts and minimalist charm, the café becomes a haven for locals seeking warmth and reflection as the mornings grow cooler.
Rounding out the top three is Yards Brewing Company, also in Philadelphia. As temperatures drop, the brewery’s communal tables and hearty seasonal ales create an atmosphere that feels both festive and familiar. It’s a place where conversation flows as easily as the beer — and autumn feels very much alive.
“As much as pumpkin spice and cider define fall, it’s really the journey that ties it all together,” says Joseph Gunther IV of Gunther Volkswagen Delray Beach. “Whether you’re pulling off at a favorite café or making a detour to a pumpkin patch, those stops become part of the drive itself. Fall isn’t just about where you end up — it’s about enjoying every mile along the way.”
The poll highlights Pennsylvania’s deep appreciation for seasonal simplicity, where orchards, cafés, and breweries alike remind residents that the essence of fall is found not in a product, but in a feeling.
