KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The heart of Kennett Square will shimmer with festive charm on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. as Kennett Collaborative presents the beloved Tinsel on the Town celebration. This free, family-friendly evening transforms downtown into a twinkling winter wonderland, complete with dazzling lights, joyful music, and holiday cheer at every turn.
State Street will be closed to traffic and lined with gold tinsel garlands, street vendors, and extended-hours shopping at local boutiques. Guests can sip hot chocolate, enjoy mulled wine, or indulge in warm treats while exploring shops offering festive specials and handcrafted holiday gifts. The evening also welcomes back the Kennett Express—an ADA-compliant electric passenger train offering free rides for all ages from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Families can join in the holiday fun with a town-wide game of BINGO, visiting participating stores to spot iconic holiday symbols and enter raffles for prizes from local businesses. “BINGO at Tinsel on the Town is always a highlight of the holiday season for us at Square Pear,” said Corien Siepelinga of Square Pear Fine Art Gallery. “It brings a festive buzz into the store and encourages families to explore all the amazing businesses in town. The joy and excitement on State Street during Tinsel on the Town is something we look forward to every year. It’s free to play and a great activity for the whole family!”
New this year is the Tinsel Hat Competition, inviting guests of all ages to create imaginative, homemade holiday headpieces adorned with ornaments, tinsel, and lights. Guest judges will select the most creative design while announcing the winners of the Holiday Window Tour—a popular contest where local businesses transform their storefronts into festive masterpieces.
Adding to the holiday excitement, visitors can meet Santa Claus, the Grinch, and Buddy the Elf, while carolers from Calabrese Arts fill the air with classic Christmas melodies. Free parking will be available at the municipal garage on Linden Street.
Presented by Kennett Collaborative, Tinsel on the Town celebrates community, creativity, and the timeless magic of the holidays in Chester County’s most festive small town. For more details, visit kennettcollaborative.org.
