WEST CHESTER, PA — Want the best view possible at the West Chester Christmas Parade? The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is recruiting volunteers to serve as parade marshals as nearly 26,000 people attend the big event sponsored by Chester County Hospital on Friday, December 5th.

“It truly takes a village for what has become one of the most loved and best-attended holiday events in Chester County, and this year we are seeking more volunteers than ever to accommodate this family-friendly, hometown Christmas parade like no other,” said Laurie Ryan, incoming President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. “Our teams of volunteers get inside access as they build camaraderie within their businesses and organizations.”

The parade and tree lighting that precedes it are part of Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester, now in its fifth year and featuring professional holiday lights throughout downtown West Chester and 6 weekends of holiday fun from Thanksgiving through New Year’s.

“Chester County Hospital is proud to once again be the title sponsor of the West Chester Christmas Parade for the fifth year in a row,” said Karen Pinsky, MD., CEO of Chester County Hospital. “This beloved tradition brings our community together in celebration, reminding us of the warmth, generosity, and spirit that make Chester County home. As your trusted healthcare partner, we are honored to stand alongside our neighbors to make this event a meaningful and festive experience for all.”

Volunteers will line the eight-block parade route as the marching begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 5, preceded by West Chester’s Tree Lighting at 6:30 p.m. in front of the historic Chester County Courthouse. Wearing fuzzy red hats donated by West Pharmaceutical Services and an official Lights Up Yellow Vest, parade marshals ensure spectators are safely on sidewalks, move the parade along and assist with some clean-up. Volunteers also get a vote as the Greater West Chester Chamber determines winners of the parade’s “Best Non-Profit Entry,” “Best Commercial Entry,” and Best High School Marching Band.” For those who prefer an alternative role, the Greater West Chester Chamber is seeking about 15 volunteers to help with setup and breakdown of the main stage area before and after the parade. Sign-ups are at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E4EA8A929AAFB6-57780330-2025#/ or at https://www.greaterwestchester.com/.

Registered volunteers will receive emails in mid- to late November providing instructions on where and when to report on the day of the parade. It all culminates with the much-anticipated arrival of Santa, as 6abc Meteorologist Adam Joseph returns as emcee and is joined by B101 Radio Host Kathy Romano of The Kathy Romano Show.
