NOTTINGHAM, PA — Herr’s is reviving its hometown-favorite Flavored by Philly campaign, this time tying the annual flavor competition to America’s 250th birthday with a patriotic twist aimed at celebrating the city that helped define the nation.
Instead of pitching new chip ideas, Philadelphians will vote on a curated lineup of flavors built around three themes — Freedom, Liberty, and Unity — each designed to reflect core American ideals. The company says the approach turns the 2026 semiquincentennial into a flavor-driven tribute to the spirit of Philadelphia and the country it helped launch.
“Philadelphia has always been at the heart of Herr’s story,” said Ed Herr, Executive Chairman of the Board. He described this year’s edition, titled Flavored by Philly: Taste the 250, as a chance to honor the city that continues to inspire the brand’s most memorable creations.
Voting opens November 12 and runs through December 10 at Herrsflavoredbyphilly.com. The three winning flavors will hit store shelves in June 2026, positioned to coincide with national celebrations marking 250 years since America’s founding.
Launched in 2021, Flavored by Philly has spotlighted the region’s culinary identity, previously featuring chips inspired by cheesesteaks, roast pork, and tomato pie. The 2025–2026 campaign encourages Philadelphians to think beyond local dishes and interpret what America’s founding ideals taste like when translated into snacks.
Herr’s said the competition remains rooted in the community that shaped the company, calling Taste the 250 both a celebration of local pride and a nod to the broader national milestone approaching next year.
