Cookie Season Gets a Reprieve: Pa. Girl Scouts Extend Sales to March 22

MIQUON, PA — Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania has extended its 2026 Girl Scout Cookie season by two weeks, giving scouts additional time to safely reach their sales goals as winter weather continues to disrupt outdoor activity across the region.

The organization announced that the cookie season will now run through March 22, a move officials said balances safety concerns with the importance of the program, the largest girl-led entrepreneurial initiative in the world.

“This two-week extension allows local Girl Scouts to have more time to reach their cookie season goals more safely with the inclement weather in the region,” the council said.

The 2026 season marks another major fundraising push for GSEP, which serves girls across southeastern Pennsylvania. Proceeds from cookie sales remain with local councils and troops, funding programs that support leadership development, entrepreneurship, and life skills year-round.

“Each year, we, and many of you, look forward to the Girl Scout Cookie season for many reasons,” said Kim E. Fraites-Dow, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. “Of course, the cookies are delicious. But beyond the taste, the Girl Scout Cookie Program is a critical fundraiser that supports and sustains our mission at GSEP.”

This year’s lineup includes the debut of Exploremores™, a rocky road–inspired sandwich cookie featuring chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond–flavored crème. The new cookie joins longtime favorites such as Thin Mints®, Caramel deLites®, and Peanut Butter Patties®. Most cookies sell for $6 per package, while the Caramel Chocolate Chip Gluten Free cookie is priced at $7.

The 2026 cookie season also coincides with America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, a milestone GSEP is marking by honoring the origins of the Girl Scout Cookie. The first known cookie sale took place in Philadelphia in 1933, when local Girl Scouts baked and sold cookies at the Philadelphia Gas and Electric Company. The program was adopted nationally by Girl Scouts of the USA in 1936.

Consumers can purchase cookies by contacting a local Girl Scout, using the Girl Scout Cookie Finder by zip code, or ordering for shipment directly from troops nationwide. The finder tool also allows customers to locate nearby booths or donate cookies to community causes.
