PARKESBURG, PA — The sights and sounds of a classic small-town carnival are set to return to Parkesburg as the community prepares to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a multi-day festival filled with rides, music, food, and family-friendly events.
Local organizers with the Parkesburg 250 Committee have announced that a full carnival will take place from Wednesday, July 1 through Saturday, July 4, bringing four days of midway rides, game concessions, and festival food back to town.
The carnival is part of the broader Parkesburg 250 celebration honoring the nation’s semiquincentennial. Community leaders say the event is designed to bring residents together while celebrating both American history and Parkesburg’s own local traditions.
Organizers hope to close the carnival with a fireworks show on the evening of July 4. However, because fireworks costs are expected to be higher than usual during the nationwide 250th anniversary celebrations, the committee is currently seeking additional sponsors to help fund the display.
In addition to the carnival midway, the celebration will continue through the weekend with a variety of community activities scheduled at Minch Park.
Residents and visitors can look forward to live music performances, craft vendors, a car and motorcycle show, a beer garden, and baseball games on the park field on Sunday.
Local volunteers have been working for months to organize the celebration, raising funds through community events such as bingo nights and pancake breakfasts.
Organizers say the goal is to create a welcoming, family-friendly event where neighbors can gather and celebrate both the nation’s milestone anniversary and the strong sense of community that defines Parkesburg.
