WAYNE, PA — The sounds of spring, summer, autumn, and winter will fill the air in Wayne this April as the Wayne Oratorio Society invites the community to experience one of classical music’s most vivid and sweeping works.

Set inside the historic Wayne Presbyterian Church, the Society’s Spring 2026 concert will showcase Joseph Haydn’s The Seasons, a richly expressive oratorio that paints the beauty of rural life and nature through music. With a full chorus, professional orchestra, and featured soloists, the performances promise an immersive and uplifting evening for music lovers of all ages.

A Powerful Celebration of Nature and Music

Led by conductor John Grecia, the production brings together a 140-voice chorus and a 45-piece professional orchestra to perform Haydn’s final major work, first premiered in 1801.

Divided into four parts—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—the oratorio captures the rhythms of the natural world, from peaceful pastoral scenes to dramatic moments like thunderstorms, all brought to life through vivid musical storytelling.

“We are all very excited to present this monumental work. It is truly glorious music by one of the world’s most influential musical innovators,” Grecia said. “The Seasons is an ethereal and moving work.”

A Local Performance With Global Roots

Haydn, widely regarded as the “father” of the modern symphony, composed The Seasons near the end of his career, drawing on poetry that celebrates the connection between people and the land. The Wayne Oratorio Society’s performance offers a rare opportunity to experience this masterpiece live in a community setting.
