PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Jazz Sanctuary will host three free concerts this summer across the region, offering audiences the chance to experience world-class music without barriers.
Founder and Executive Director Alan Segal emphasized the organization’s mission to bring people together. “There’s something truly special that happens in those moments — the music lifts, the musicians respond, and together, we create something greater than the sum of its parts,” Segal said. “I invite everyone to be part of our Jazz Sanctuary events — always free and open to the public — because we believe music should be shared without barriers.”
The summer lineup features performances by The Jazz Sanctuary Quintet, including James Dell’Orefice on piano, Eddie Etkins on saxophone, Leon Jordan Sr. on drums, Segal on bass, and Randy Sutin on vibes and percussion.
The scheduled concerts are:
- Thursday, July 10 at 6:30 p.m., St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 313 Pine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106. This two-hour outdoor performance is part of the church’s “Summer Concert in the Churchyard” series.
- Wednesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m., Main Line Unitarian Church, 816 S. Valley Forge Rd., Devon, PA 19333. The event is part of the “Jazz & Joe” series and will include complimentary coffee, soft drinks, and dessert during the 105-minute concert.
- Thursday, August 7 at 7 p.m., Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 1505 Makefield Rd., Morrisville, PA 19067. Another “Jazz & Joe” evening offering a 90-minute set, open to all.
For over 14 years, The Jazz Sanctuary has aimed to transcend differences and foster community connections through music. “Our goal has always been to build an organization that unites people and serves the greater good — welcoming all, despite their differences,” Segal added.
All concerts are free and open to the public. Additional private performances are scheduled throughout August.
