Spotify Subscribers to Pay More as Company Announces February Price Hike

Spotify, the world’s largest audio streaming service, announced Thursday that it will increase subscription prices in the United States, Estonia, and Latvia starting in February.

According to the company’s blog post, the cost of an individual premium subscription will rise from $11.99 to $12.99 per month, while the family plan will increase from $19.99 to $21.99. Spotify’s Premium Duo plan will also see a $2 increase, moving from $16.99 to $18.99, and the student plan will climb from $5.99 to $6.99.

This will be Spotify’s third price increase for U.S. subscribers in as many years. The last adjustment came in June, when the company raised its standard Premium plan to $11.99 per month, following a previous increase to $10.99 in July 2023.

Industry analysts say the new pricing could boost Spotify’s annual revenue by hundreds of millions of dollars.

The changes come as the company begins 2026 under new leadership, with co-founder Daniel Ek stepping down as CEO at the start of January, and as Spotify continues to expand its platform, including the recent rollout of music videos in the U.S. and Canada announced in early December.

CNBC previously reported that Spotify posted strong third-quarter earnings in November, though its fourth-quarter revenue outlook and premium subscriber projections fell short of what analysts had anticipated.

Subscribers can expect to receive an email within the next month notifying them of the upcoming price changes and outlining the updated rates.
