WEST CHESTER, PA — The timeless harmonies of classic street-corner singing are coming to West Chester this spring as The Doo Wop Project brings its new show, Echoes of the Street, to West Chester University for a night of nostalgic music and modern surprises.
Set for Saturday, March 28, the 90-minute performance will take the stage at Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, where audiences can experience the rich vocal traditions that defined an era of American music—reimagined by a group of performers with Broadway credentials and a passion for keeping the genre alive.
Backed by a live band, the performers recreate the iconic harmonies once heard on city stoops, subway platforms, and neighborhood street corners. At the same time, they add a fresh twist by transforming modern pop hits into classic doo wop arrangements, blending generations of music into a single high-energy show.
Audience members can expect to hear beloved favorites such as “Whispering Bells,” “So Much in Love,” “Blue Moon,” “Sherry,” and the Motown classic “My Girl.” The group also puts its signature spin on songs by contemporary artists including Taylor Swift, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, and Chris Stapleton, creating unexpected mashups that celebrate both past and present.
