COATESVILLE, PA — Thirteen-year-old author and illustrator Siona Talekar is gaining widespread recognition for her debut children’s book, I Know What You Do When I Go to School, a whimsical and heartfelt look at a child’s musings on a parent’s day. Published by Story Monsters Press, the book is already earning positive reviews from critics who praise its humor, warmth, and cross-generational appeal.

Siona’s creative evolution began in 2023 when she participated in Habitat for Humanity of Chester County’s 20th Annual Build a House, Build a Dream event. Representing Wallingford Elementary School, her “One with Nature” model home, cleverly designed around a tree, won multiple accolades, including Honorable Mention and Most Earth-Friendly Project. The initiative, which challenges fifth-grade students to construct dream home models, introduces young participants to Habitat’s mission while fostering creativity and community awareness.

Siona’s debut book, written and illustrated originally at age seven, tells the story of a child imagining her mother’s day as filled with carefree delights like chocolate cake and movie marathons. The surprise comes when the child learns her mother is a devoted pediatric oncologist working to care for children with cancer. Now refined at the age of 13, the story has been embraced for its relatable charm. Early reviewers have called it “heartfelt, hilarious, and packed with personality,” while readers have awarded it five-star ratings, noting its strong appeal for children and families alike.

Beyond her literary achievements, Siona exemplifies generosity. She is donating books and Story Monsters Greenie Boxes™ to Title I schools, children’s hospitals, and literacy programs benefiting youth in need.

“Habitat for Humanity of Chester County is incredibly proud of Siona and honored to have played a role in her journey,” stated a Habitat for Humanity spokesperson. “Her story highlights the lasting impact of programs like Build a House, Build a Dream in inspiring young minds to engage with their community and think creatively.”
