WEST CHESTER, PA — The stage is set for epic battles, stirring speeches, and a timeless story of leadership as West Chester University’s Department of Theatre & Dance prepares to bring William Shakespeare’s Henry V to life this April.

From the first trumpet call to the final bow, audiences will be transported into a world of political intrigue and wartime courage, where a young king rises to meet the weight of his crown. The production promises not just a retelling of history, but a dynamic, live experience that captures the energy and emotion of one of Shakespeare’s most enduring works.

Directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Leonard Kelly, Henry V follows the transformation of a once-unlikely ruler into a commanding leader. As England faces unrest at home and conflict abroad, Henry must unite his people and lead his army into battle against France during the Hundred Years’ War. The story builds to the legendary Battle of Agincourt, where Henry rallies his outnumbered troops with one of the most iconic speeches in theater history.
