MALVERN, PA — Music will take on every shade of the rainbow when two generations of local musicians share the stage for an afternoon of “Symphonic Colors.”

On Sunday, February 22, the Immaculata Symphony will partner with the Chester County Youth Orchestra for a family-friendly concert celebrating classic works inspired by color. The performance will fill Alumnae Hall Theater on Immaculata University’s campus with melodies designed to spark imagination and curiosity.

The collaboration offers more than just a concert — it’s a celebration of mentorship and musical community. Student musicians from across the county will perform alongside seasoned members of the Immaculata Symphony, creating a vibrant, intergenerational experience both onstage and in the audience.

“This concert is a wonderful opportunity to bring together musicians of different generations while inviting audiences to experience classic and popular works through the lens of colors in a fun and engaging way,” said Joseph Gehring, chair of Immaculata University’s Music Department and music director of the Immaculata Symphony. “We hope to spark curiosity and make the concert experience accessible and enjoyable for listeners of all ages.”

A special highlight of the afternoon will follow the performance, when children and their families will have the chance to meet the musicians, see instruments up close, and learn more about how orchestral music comes to life. For young aspiring musicians, it’s a rare behind-the-scenes opportunity. For parents, it’s an inviting and affordable way to introduce children to live symphonic music.

With general admission priced at just $10 — and free entry for students and children — organizers hope families across Chester County will make it a colorful Sunday outing.
