West Chester Area School District Appoints Principal at Fugett

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Area School District has appointed Zachary Lewis as principal of Fugett Middle School following approval by the West Chester Area School Board of Directors, the district announced.

Lewis brings more than a decade of experience in public education and district leadership, most recently serving as a middle school principal in Philadelphia, where he led schoolwide improvement efforts focused on academic growth, school climate and access to learning opportunities.

According to the district, Lewis has led initiatives including the launch of a dual-language program for multilingual learners and efforts to strengthen family and community partnerships. He has also overseen instructional and operational teams and supported professional development for new and aspiring educators.

Lewis holds a Master of Arts in education with principal certification from Holy Family University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Baltimore, and a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education.

“I am truly honored to join the West Chester Area School District and become part of a community with such a strong tradition of excellence,” Lewis said. “My leadership is grounded in relationships, shared values, and listening first. I look forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to build upon the great work already in place while ensuring every student, every class, every day experiences belonging, challenge, and success.”

Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Jimmy Conley said Lewis’ leadership is marked by a collaborative approach to coaching teams and aligning operations with instructional goals.

“We are excited to welcome Zachary to the WCASD team and are confident his experience, integrity, and commitment to service will have a meaningful impact on Fugett Middle School and the entire Fugett community,” Conley said.

The district said additional information about transition plans and opportunities for families and staff to meet Lewis will be shared in the coming weeks.
